We’re thrilled to share that Memorial Elementary School has received an "A" rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
This recognition reflects the dedication and teamwork of our entire community; our inspiring students, tireless teachers and staff, supportive families, and all our generous volunteers and donor. Thank you for helping make our local public school a place of excellence where every child is empowered to grow and succeed.
How Your Support Helped
While this honor belongs to the whole school community, your support for PTO initiatives directly contributed to this success:
Science Enrichment
Over the last four years, PTO funding for a dedicated science ancillary helped boost student performance, with scores showing clear improvement.
Teacher Support & Training
PTO covers the cost of International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation fees and professional development, ensuring staff have access to world-class teaching practices.
Closing the Gap
TEA recognized Memorial for narrowing the achievement gap between students from different income levels. PTO’s classroom grants, school supply support, and family engagement efforts have ensured all students have the tools they need to succeed.
Nature-Based Learning
The PTO fully funds the school’s garden program, giving students a unique outdoor classroom on our nature-rich campus beside Houston's Memorial Park. Research reviews confirm that "nature-specific outdoor learning has measurable socio-emotional, academic and wellbeing benefits, and should be incorporated into every child's school experience with reference to their local context."
Why This Matters
The "A" rating at Memorial Elementary School has a ripple effect across our community.
It offers reassurance of excellent local public school options for families considering relocating to the Rice Military, Camp Logan, Crestwood, and other zoned areas.
It helps the district advance toward the turnaround benchmarks required by the Texas Education Agency to restore local governance.
It offers proof of what's possible when a community rallies behind its public school.
It validates the hard work staff put into delivering Memorial’s IB program, and how PTO's support helped their vision translate into measurable success for every child
