Parent Square Update & Why You Should Save Your Photos & Videos ASAP

You may have read the news from HISD. In the 2025-2026 school year, the district is implementing Parent Square for all schools.

This is great news. Previously, PTO funded access to Parent Square for Memorial Elementary as part of our mission to build strong communication between students, teachers, and parents. We believe it's a great tool for our community.

While that's exciting, it does bring some uncertainties....

Parent Square is a secure communications platform popular with schools.

Will past photos & videos still be accessible?

We cannot guarantee that those will be accessible once we're on the district plan. So, we recommend taking action to download your student's favorite photos and/or videos from Parent Square to your personal device.

This would include things shared by your teachers or classroom guardians in the feed or in personal messages.

Will we lose access to the app over the summer?

It is unclear. As of the end of the school year, HISD had not provided clarity. Please keep an eye out for school or district communications for updates.
